Sharing a PDF

Share, from the document menu, opens the system share sheet with the PDF attached, ready to send by Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or anywhere else the share sheet reaches.

Other export formats

The same Share menu also exports a document as a page image (PNG or JPEG), plain text, Rich Text (RTF), a web page (HTML), or Markdown — useful for dropping a single page into a document that doesn't take PDFs directly, or for pulling a document's text into another app.

Annotations and form data

Two more items in the Share menu pull structured content out of a document. Annotation Summary produces a Markdown list of every mark, grouped by page, with the covered text or note — a quick record of what you flagged. Form Data exports a filled form's field values as XFDF, the standard interchange format, for handing the answers to another tool without sending the whole PDF.

Printing

Print, in the editor, sends the document to any AirPrint printer, and is bound to ⌘P on a hardware keyboard. It honours the PDF's own print permission: a document whose owner disallowed printing (a restriction Colophon can set itself under Protect) can't be printed here either.

What Colophon doesn't do

Colophon doesn't convert a PDF to editable Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files. Its export formats — PDF, image, text, RTF, HTML, and Markdown — cover getting content out, not round-tripping it through Office file formats.
