Drawing and placing your signature

Choose Sign, then draw your signature with a finger, Apple Pencil, or a trackpad. Drag it onto the page and resize it to fit wherever it belongs. You'll draw it fresh each time you place it — Colophon doesn't keep a saved copy to reuse on a later document.

What a drawn signature means

A drawn signature is a visual mark, not a cryptographic one: it's added to the page the same way any other image is, with no certificate, hash, or tamper-evidence behind it. It doesn't prove who signed the document, and it can't show whether the document changed afterward — other PDF readers have no way to display any signer or trust information for it, because there's no signature object there for them to find.
